Privacy Policy — Clear Habits (v4)
Last updated: 30 May 2026
Clear Habits (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data may be handled when you use the app, how it is stored, and the choices available to you.
1. Who We Are
App name: Clear Habits
Operated by: Clear Habits Limited (England and Wales, company number 16964174)
Support contact: support@clearhabitsapp.com
Administrative contact: admin@clearhabitsapp.com
Clear Habits Limited is the data controller for personal data processed in connection with the Clear Habits app.
2. Accounts, Sign-in, and Stored Data
Clear Habits offers an optional account, used to back up your data and to enable features such as cross-device sync, accountability circles, and challenge participation.
You can use Clear Habits without an account. Without sign-in:
- All habit data is stored locally on your device only
- No data is synced to our servers
- Accountability circles, group streaks, and shared challenges are not available
If you choose to sign in, you can do so using:
- Sign in with Apple
- Sign in with Google
- Email and password
When you create an account, we receive and store:
- A unique user identifier
- Your email address (provided by you, or by Apple or Google during sign-in)
- The authentication provider used (Apple, Google, or email and password)
- An optional display name you choose, used in accountability circles
Apple's “Hide My Email” feature is supported. If you use it, we receive a private relay address rather than your real email.
Once signed in, the following data is synced to our servers and associated with your account:
- Habit titles and selected time blocks
- Daily plans and completion records
- Habit completion, missed status, and miss reasons
- Streak protection usage
- Challenge progress and custom challenge definitions
- Accountability circle memberships, check-in status, and nudge records
- Identity Cards earned
Synced data is stored using cloud infrastructure (currently Supabase). We do not use your habit data for advertising and we do not sell it.
3. Purchases & Subscriptions (Premium)
If you choose Premium, payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. To manage subscriptions, entitlements, and purchase restoration, the app may also use a third-party subscription service provider, such as RevenueCat.
These providers may process limited purchase-related data such as:
- Transaction identifiers and store purchase records
- Subscription and entitlement status
- Anonymous or app-specific user identifiers used for purchase validation
- Technical and device/store metadata needed to validate, restore, and manage purchases
This purchase-related processing is separate from your habit content. Your habit titles, plans, and local habit history remain stored primarily on your device.
4. Notifications
If you enable reminders, the app schedules notifications on your device. Notification permissions are optional and can be changed in your device settings.
5. In-App Review Prompts
After certain milestones (such as completing 7 days), the app may ask whether you are enjoying Clear Habits. If you respond positively, your device’s native App Store or Play Store review dialog may appear. If you respond negatively, you are offered the option to send feedback by email.
The app stores the date of the last prompt, the number of prompts shown, and whether you declined — all locally on your device. This data is not sent to us or any third party. The app prompts at most 3 times per year with at least 60 days between prompts.
6. Accountability Circles
If you join or create an accountability circle, limited data is shared with other circle members:
- Your display name
- Your daily check-in status (committed, in progress, or done)
- Nudge records (who nudged whom, once per day)
Circle members cannot see your habit titles, miss reasons, streak protection usage, or insight data. Circle data is stored in our cloud infrastructure and associated with your account.
7. Support Communications
If you contact us by email, we may receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message.
We use that information only to respond to your request, provide support, and handle app-related enquiries.
8. What We Do Not Use Your Data For
We do not sell your habit data.
We do not use your habit data for third-party advertising.
The app does not include third-party advertising SDKs.
9. Third-Party Services
Clear Habits relies on the following third-party services to operate:
- Supabase — cloud database, authentication, and account services
- Apple Sign-In — used when you sign in with Apple. Apple's privacy policy applies to that interaction
- Google Sign-In — used when you sign in with Google. Google's privacy policy applies
- RevenueCat — manages Premium subscriptions and entitlements
- Apple App Store and Google Play — process payments for Premium subscriptions
- Expo Push Notifications — delivers push notifications including circle nudges
We do not currently use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs in the app.
10. Storage, Deletion, and Retention
Habit data is stored on your device. If you are signed in, it is also synced to our cloud infrastructure and associated with your account.
You can remove your data in the following ways:
- Reset on-device data: clears local habits, plans, and history on your current device. Your account and cloud-synced data are not affected.
- Delete account: permanently deletes your account, all synced habits, all circle memberships, all challenges, Identity Cards, and all associated data from our servers. This action is immediate and irreversible.
- Uninstalling the app: removes local data only. If you are signed in, cloud-synced data remains until you delete your account.
Both options are available from Settings → Danger Zone inside the app.
After account deletion, residual technical backups may be retained for up to 30 days for operational integrity reasons before being permanently removed.
Purchase and subscription records may be retained by Apple, Google Play, RevenueCat, or related providers in line with their own policies and legal obligations.
