Clear Habits FAQ
Answers to the most common questions about the habit tracker, DayPlan, insights, Premium, streak protection, challenges and accountability circles.
What is Clear Habits
What is Clear Habits?
Clear Habits is a daily execution app built around commitment and follow-through. You choose what matters for today, lock it in, then review execution honestly.
Can I use Clear Habits for day-to-day tasks?
Yes. You can track routines, recurring habits, personal tasks, and study or work actions. The app focuses on execution — not what the habit “means.”
Do I need an account?
No. Clear Habits does not require accounts, logins, or sign-ups.
How it works
What is a DayPlan?
Your DayPlan is your committed set of habits for a specific day. It represents what you agreed to execute for that day.
Why does Clear Habits enforce committed days?
To remove mid-day negotiation. Changing the plan during the day usually lowers standards and makes feedback unreliable.
Why do changes only apply to tomorrow?
After you commit, edits apply to tomorrow — not today. This keeps today’s commitment honest and pushes better planning instead of reactive changes.
What happens when a day is locked?
You can still mark habits as Done or Missed, but you can’t change the plan itself. Once the day is completed (perfect or broken), Home locks for the day and planning continues with tomorrow.
What happens if I miss a habit?
If any committed habit is missed, the day is marked as broken. Clear Habits doesn’t punish misses — it uses them to generate accurate feedback for tomorrow.
What are challenges?
Challenges are time-bound streak goals — commit to a habit for a set number of consecutive days (7 to 90 days). Miss a day and the challenge resets to day 1. Free users can run 1 challenge at a time, Premium users can run up to 3. Challenges appear in your daily plan automatically alongside your regular habits, and completing them earns XP, raises your level, unlocks titles, and grows your identity plant — visible on the Challenges tab.
Can I create my own challenges?
Premium users can create custom challenges with their own title, duration, and category. Free users can start any of the built-in challenges.
How do XP, levels, and titles work?
Every day you check in on a challenge earns you +10 XP. Completing the full challenge earns a bonus of 5 XP × its length (a 30-day challenge = 150 bonus XP on top of 300 from daily check-ins). XP and levels are never lost — even if a challenge resets, the XP you earned from it stays. Levels go from 1 to 50, and your identity plant grows through 5 stages: seed, sprout, sapling, tree, and bloom. Titles are unlocked by completing challenges of specific lengths — Discipline Apprentice for your first finish, Consistency Builder for a 7-day, all the way up to Iron Discipline for a 90-day.
Why do challenges earn XP but habits don't?
Habits and challenges serve different purposes. Habits are your daily routine — already rewarded through streaks, perfect days, and Insights. Challenges are time-bound commitments with a clear finish line, which is a natural fit for XP and progression. Keeping XP exclusive to challenges also prevents habit-farming — adding trivial habits just to rack up points. Both systems stay honest because of it.
What are accountability circles?
Circles let you and your friends track daily progress together. Create a circle, share the invite code, and see who's committed, in progress, or not started each day. Free users can join one circle. Premium users get unlimited circles.
What is a nudge?
A nudge is a one-tap reminder you can send to a circle member who hasn't started their day yet. Each member can only be nudged once per day.
Data & privacy
Where is my data stored?
Your habit-tracking data is stored primarily on your device. Premium purchase and subscription status may also be handled by Apple App Store, Google Play, and related subscription infrastructure.
Is my data backed up?
Yes. Clear Habits syncs your data securely to the cloud using your device ID. This includes your habits, daily plans, records, streak protections, and challenge progress. If you reinstall the app on the same device, your data is restored automatically.
What data is synced?
Your habits, daily plans, completion records, streak protections, challenge progress, and circle memberships are synced. Notification preferences and display settings remain on-device only.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete all stored data instantly using Reset all data in Settings.
Why does the app ask me to rate it?
After positive milestones like completing 7 days, the app may ask if you're enjoying Clear Habits. If you say yes, your device's native App Store or Play Store review dialog appears. If not, you're offered a way to send feedback directly. The app asks at most 3 times per year with at least 60 days between prompts.
